Top influential Nigerian youth, Olasupo Abideen, has been identified among the CIVICUS “Goalkeepers Youthc Accelerator 2019 Advocates” for the support of Sustainable Development which held in London
According to information available on CIVICUS website, Abideen was among the 12 selected youth driving SDGs across the globe, who are making remarkable impacts in their various sectors.
According to him, he was selected on the recommendation of Restless Development Youth Power Network, after which they were made to go through screening based on certain criteria.
According to Abideen, “as a facilitator of changes in my society along with a lot of young other people through collaborative efforts, working with other accelerators helped me learned so much as it allowed us to study and promote the program itself.”
“The future belongs to youths who collaborate and work towards the development of a sustainable future. I have of recent found a liking and attachment for the power of collaboration, and I have been opportune to collaborate with other people from different countries,” he added.
The Accelerator program aimed at supporting the SDGs of the UN, was promoted by the need to promote youths, thus steering Committee members have the responsibility of promoting and facilitating the execution of the Accelerator. Steering committee members have the duty of reviewing, reworking and networking to promote, develop and grow the Accelerator such that a bigger network of young people around the world may benefit from the program.
At the recent Accelerator, 30 participants got 30,000USD each for the support of their SDGs projects.
